BAYVIEW

Seattle, Washington

Bayview is a 67 unit multi-family building located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Its design surrounds the subdued and varied characteristic of the neighborhood. The landscape was inspired by Japanese garden design which pointed to a mountain to island representation. The building form and materials were selected based on the historic Beacon Hill buildings and how they incorporate material usage into their facades. Organizing the facade into a grid with materials transitions reduces the perceived scale and adding secondary elements like blackened cedar cladding provides human scaled textures and shadow lines. A retail space is located along the primary street and activates the north facade of the building with a large exterior deck attached to the interior spaces.

This project was designed and completed while employed at Weinstein A+U as a Project Manager.
